专家说明
Gordon Matta-Clark was an extremely important figure in the founding and development of Holly Solomon’s SoHo gallery. The artist personally oversaw the construction of the 98 Greene Street lofts and later in 1975, along with Richard Nonas, encouraged Holly and Horace Solomon to open their West Broadway location.
This Gordon Matta-Clark drawing serves as a study for his 1975 contribution to the Paris Biennale known as Conical Intersect. In this project, Matta-Clark cut various spiraling holes through two townhouses in the district of Les Halles that would soon be demolished for the building of the Centre Pompidou. Known as the father of "anarchitecture," Matta-Clark opened up these once dark, derelict residences to the light and air of Paris. In this study, the immense planning and engineering that went into these works is readily apparent.
