The present lot is one of the exceedingly rare examples of such desk timepiece bearing the prestigious retailers’ signature Hermès on the dial and the outer leather case, furthermore preserved in very good overall condition.

It combines a watch with 8-days movement and alarm, a triple calendar, a barometer and a thermometer.

The celebrated house of Hermès was established in 1837 by Thierry Hermès as a harness workshop in Paris. The firm then expanded into travel bags, furniture and watchmaking. Today, nearly two centuries later, Hermès has maintained its reputation as one of the world’s foremost manufacturer of luxury goods.
