專家說明
According to the Archives of Jaeger-LeCoultre, the present "pendulette à rideaux" or shutter timepiece is part of a series of such travel timepieces made in collaboration with Hermès between 1940 and 1950.
The models are distinguished by the unusual use of a revolving shutter, revealing the dial when opened while serving as a stand.
The rarity of the present example is further enhanced by its very good overall condition, the retailer’s signature Hermès on the dial and the presence of the original Hermès leather pouch.
In the 1930s, Jaeger supplied such sliding cover travel timepieces to the celebrated house of Cartier, also known as “Kodak” due to its resemblance to the design of early cameras. See The Cartier Collection: Timepieces, Flammarion, p. 301, and Le Temps de Cartier by J. Barracca, G. Negretti and F. Nencini, p. 197.
