ROLEX. AN EXTREMLY RARE AND ATTRACTIVE 18K GOLD AND MULTI-COLOURED GEM-SET WRISTWATCH WITH SWEEP CENTRE SECONDS, DATE, DAY, MULTI-COLOURED GEM-SET DIAL, BRACELET, ORIGINAL GUARANTEE, INVOICE AND BOX

The present ref. 19158 is one of the exceedingly few examples of this model to appear in public to date. Consigned by the family of the original owner and in excellent overall condition it is furthermore sold with the full set of accessories.

Gem-set pieces are known to have been made with a number of different gems - among which, most notably, diamond, ruby, emerald and sapphire - and a number of different dial setting designs. The present example impresses with the baguette-cut multi-coloured gem-set bezel, the colours changing gradually from red to yellow. Its luxurious appeal is further boosted by the champagne dial with matching multi-coloured gem-set numerals.

Only a handful of ref. 19158 in such configuration are thought to have been made. It is highly probable that a proper production run was never set-up, and only a very few models were eventually commercialized.

The movement itself has been tested of precision and of resistance to external effects for twelve days and nights, particularly at three different temperatures by the Swiss Official Tests of Chronometers. It obtained the title of “Officially Certified Quartz Chronometer. The firm made following these rigorous tests a final examination in their own laboratories, the movement eventually earning the additional title of “Red Seal Chronometer”, certified by the words “Superlative Chronometer Officially Certified” on its dial.
