A PAIR OF MEISSEN TWO-HANDLED BEAKERS AND SAUCERS
CIRCA 1730, BLUE CROSSED SWORDS MARKS, GILDER'S 39. TO EACH PIECE, ONE SAUCER WITH DREHER'S ++ MARK TO FOOTRIM
The beakers painted on each side with figures on quaysides in river landscapes within gilt scroll-edged cartouches with Böttger-lustre gilt-striped panels issuing iron-red and purple foliate scrolls, the saucers similarly decorated, one with European merchants in discussion, the other with Eastern merchants, the reverse with three sprays of indianische Blumen, with Gitterwerk borders to the rims (one beaker with minor flat chip to footrim, slight wear to gilding)
