The rectangular green leather-lined top above reed-framed open shelves flanked by turned and lotus-carved columns, the sides panelled in imitation of book spines, on reeded bun feet with inset brass castors, repairs to cross-banding

A related design for a bookstand with hinged top is illustrated in Gillows Estimate Sketch Book, 1831, for Ferguson & Co., their London partners, and reproduced in Susan Stuart, Gillows of London and Lancaster 1730 - 1840, Woodbridge, 2008, vol. I, p. 382, pl. 456.
