MARIE-NICOLAS PONCE-CAMUS (FRENCH, 1778-1839)

Sigismond Wolfgang Aloyse Moreau was born in Delémont (Switzerland), a son of Germain and Marie-Anne Moreau, first worked as a lawyer at the court of the prince-bishop of Basel from 1767 onward. Later he became a member of the conseil des anciens from 24 Germinal an VI onward, procureur general syndic and later president du tribunal criminel of the newly created French department of Mont-Terrible. He was a member of the French Parliament from 1799 to 1814, became a knight of the Imperial French Order of the Legion of Honour in 1811 and died in Moutier (Switzerland) where he had been grand bailli from 1822 to 1825.
