Marquise d'Autichamp, in lilac dress with white lace fichu, peppermint green bow at corsage, fine necklace, her upswept powdered hair dressed with a lace cap; woodland landscape background

(64 mm.), diam., gilt-metal easel stand frame, the blue silk reverse stamped in gold 'HALL PORTRAIT DE LA MARQUISE D'AUTICHAMP', rectangular fitted red leather case, the cover stamped 'Hall Portrait de Madame d'Autichamp' and tooled gold border, made at the behest of Félix Panhard by L. House at 82 rue Bonaparte, Paris.

The celebrated collection of Mr Vincent, Paris, sold en bloc by his only son Prosper Vincent to Félix Panhard, on 2 April 1883, for 210,000 Gold Francs.

Specialist note

The sitter was possibly Marie Mathilde Eugénie, née Chaumont de la Galaisière (b. 1768), who married Marie Jean Joseph Jacques de Beaumont d'Autichamp (1767-1827).
