By repute: the plaster copy of an Egyptian stele is from the collection of the Berlin Gipsformerei; many of the remaining pieces in this lot are from the collections of an unknown French museum.

Specialist note

The stele is reputed to be after a 19th or 18th limestone original in the collection of the Museum of Fine Arts, Lyon.
The Sphinx's head possibly after an example in the collection of the British Museum, London.
