Edith Head And Audrey Hepburn Breakfast At Tiffany's, 1961
A watercolour and pencil costume sketch of Audrey Hepburn as Holly Golightly in the Paramount film Breakfast At Tiffany's, the sketch showing the design for the hot pink cocktail gown worn by Audrey Hepburn during the scene where she returns to her apartment after a party with José, the dress shown in two different angles and with a pencil sketch, signed in pencil by Edith Head and ink-stamped on the back productions art department -- 17x14in. (43.35.5cm.), framed; with a sheet of From Edith Head Designing stationery attached annotated with two pencil sketches for similar angles, probably a directive for the final sketch -- 8½x5½in. (21.6x14cm.)

Specialist note

Hubert De Givenchy designed the key costumes for Audrey Hepburn in Breakfast At Tiffany's, other items were provided by the Paramount wardrobe department, supervised by Edith Head. When the actual dress from this design was offered in Christie's New York in 2007, the Givenchy label was absent. It was suggested that perhaps this dress was designed at the last minute and may not have been a Givenchy creation. Actress Debi Mazar explains When Givenchy looked at Audrey Hepburn, he saw Audrey Hepburn. When Edith Head looked at Audrey Hepburn, she saw Holly Golightly.
The dress made for the film was offered for auction at Christie's New York, December 12th, 1990 lot 95.
