With cannon barrels, the breeches inscribed 'London' within engraved rococo frames, signed beneath the steel-springs and numbered 1 and 2 respectively, engraved breech tangs, border-engraved actions, figured walnut butts each carved with a trophy and shell in low relief about the tang, silver-mounts finely cast in low relief, comprising grotesque mask butt caps, pierced side-plates formed as elaborate trophies of arms, flowers and fruit, trophy-of-arms escutcheons engraved with owner's crest, and each fitted with iron sliding trigger-guard safety-catch, London proof marks, the iron and steel parts with light surface rust and light wear, the butts each cracked about the breech tangs
