Seif Wanly (Egyptian, 1906-1979)

Focus on individual musicians and instruments are recurrent themes in the work of Seif Wanly. In his hands they become a springboard for experiments in colour and composition. In the present painting the vivid colours and strong abstraction are a visual equivalent of the sound of the instrument.
