William Zorach (1887-1966)

According to Roberta K. Tarbell, Cat Standing with Long Tail was an early carving by William Zorach from 1927 of a Maine cat, similar to other sculptures of this period of the Zorach family cat, Tooky. The original mahogany or walnut sculpture is unlocated. A patinated plaster cast is in the collection of the Smithsonian American Art Museum, Washington, D.C. The bronze version was cast in an edition of 6.
