Patek Philippe. A lady's fine, rare and unusual 18K gold, chrysoprase, black onyx and diamond-set bracelet watch and matching necklace

With Patek Philippe Extract from the Archives confirming manufacture of the present watch and yellow gold bracelet with 179 diamonds, 8 onyx and 11 chrysoprases pieces in 1978 and their subsequent sale on 18 February 1980.

Consigned by the descendants of the original owner, this intricate ensuite watch and necklace ensemble have never been offered in public before and are furthermore preserved in very good overall condition.

Reference 4321 was produced between 1976 and 1978, made piece by piece, each differing from each other by the choice and shape of decoration, hence rendering them all unique pieces. The models are so far only known in yellow gold, the matching bracelets using the same diamond and hard stone decoration than the dials and bezels. The references where changed to 4321/1, 4321/2 etc. as soon as the variance became important. An advertisement for the 1976 Basel Fair shows a ref. 4321/1 yellow gold, diamond and coral watch with matching earrings and a ring.

The present reference 4321/1 is believed to be one of only two examples of this reference known to have appeared in public to date, however the only one with the chrysoprase, onyx and diamond decoration and with the matching bracelet.

A decade of activism, freedom and self-expression dominated the 1970s and established fashion and jewellery trends became more tolerant and individualistic.

This unique ensemble with its playful multi-coloured design enhanced with the 1970s trendy gemstones chrysoprase and black onyx, are wonderful examples of this period.
