Painted with a coat-of-arms of a lion rampant within concentric borders of dot-and-stalk, thistle and wheel-pattern, the reverse with a flowerhead within concentric circles and foliage, the border pierced with two holes, cracked across and riveted, chipping to rim

Specialist note

A similar but more elaborate coat-of-arms with a border of crucifix reserved against a Bishop's crook and stole, attributed to Joan Payo Coello, Abbot of Poblet is discussed in Alice Wilson Frothingham, Lustreware of Spain, New York, 1951, p. 149, fig. 110.
