Specialist note

The topsail schooner Deveron was built by Geddie at Banff in 1871. Registered at 133 tons and measuring 89 feet in length with a 21 foot beam, she began life trading out of Banff to the Baltic. Sold by her original owners in 1889, by 1900 she was owned by T. Couch of Padstow, Cornwall, who put her into the China Clay trade. On 19th June 1905 she was sunk in Portland Roads after colliding with the destroyer H.M.S. Conflict.
