Specialist note

The single screw steam yacht O-we-ra was designed by Cox & King of London and built by Ramage & Ferguson at Leith in 1907. Ordered by Frederick H. Stevens, the wealthy locomotive builder of Buffalo, New York State, she was registered at 426 tons gross (187 net & 498 Thames), measured 174 feet in length with a 25 foot beam, and was engined by her builders. Constructed from steel throughout, she was fitted with electric light and Mr. Stevens moored her at Buffalo, on Lake Erie, until at least 1914, after which she was sold to a new owner in Providence, Rhode Island.
