More Information
Specialist note
The table is wreathed by a ribbon-guilloche fret that is mosaiced in lozenged compartments as featured in a sideboard-table pattern in Thomas Chippendale's Gentleman and Cabinet-Makers Director, 1754 (pl. 36). The pattern for the pilaster legs, and the pattern for the axe-head drawer handles, are also derived from Chippendale's sideboard-table patterns (pl.35).
