More Information
Specialist note
This pair of fautueils may have formed part of the same suite of seat-furniture as a set of three fauteuils sold anonymously, Sotheby's New York, 20 May 2005, lot 94 ($7,800). The seat-rail chamfered on the inside edge for lightness, yet retaining strength for upholstery is a refinement associated with the menuisier Georges Jacob (1739-1814, maître in 1765), and Jean-Baptiste Claude Sené (1747-1803, maître in 1769).
