專家說明

The countryhouse 'Vreugdehof' on the river Amstel in the South of Amsterdam was owned by the artist's father. It was later demolished and on its site was erected the elderly home 'Vreugdehof'.

Troostwijk is known to have been working with his friend and fellow-artist Christiaan Andriessen (1775-1846), who depicted both of them working in his studio on 20 June 1805 in his drawn diary (Stadsarchief, Amsterdam, inv. no. 30096/5066). On Troostwijk's work, see E. Koolhaas-Grosfeld and E. van Uitert, Wouter van Troostwijk 1782-1810, schilder, tekenaar en etser, The Hague, 1998.
