'King and People in the streets of London, Armistice Day, 11 November 1918'.
"King George drove through London on Monday accompanied by the Queen and Princess Mary. It was all very simple and quite informal. His majesty, who was in naval uniform, had a great greeting from the dense crowd as he drove through the Mall and passed Admiralty Arch and across Trafalgar Square into the Strand. there was no mistaking the outburst of loyalty and sincerity in the greeting that their Majesties received. this informal mingling with the British and Overseas subjects was a kingly and happy idea. The crowds were delighted by the surprise of the visit and by the simplicity of the coming."
