Presented to H.R.H. The Princess Mary, Princess Royal, Countess of Harewood (1897-1965) and her husband, Henry Lascelles, 6th Earl of Harewood, (1882-1947) during their official visit to Jerusalem in 1928 and by descent at Harewood House, Yorkshire.

專家說明

Suspension eggs are frequently found in the Orthodox churches as well as mosques. Some of these eggs were offered by pilgrims to the church, as votive offerings. Given their egg-shaped form, these hanging components were likely symbolic of the cult of fertility. For more details see: J. Carswell and C.J.F.
