M. Dux Lith. MDCCLXXXXIIII', globe, red curtain and sky background
signed with initials and dated 'W. L 1798' (lower left)
on ivory
rectangular, 4¼ x 3½ in. (105 x 88 mm.), ormolu frame with coronet and cypher surmount

This miniature is taken after the portrait of Stanislas II Augustus Poniatowski of 1793 by Marcello Bacciarelli now in the National Museum in Warsaw. Another version of this miniature by Wincenty de Lesseur-Lesserowicz is in H. Kaminska-Krassowska, Miniatury Wincentego Lesseura I Walerii Tarnowsky z dawnej kolekcji Tarnowski z Dzikowa w zbiorach Museum Polskiego w Rapperwilu, Warsaw, 1994, p. 41, no. 1, illustrated in colour pl. 1.
