NAPOLEON I (1769-1821), Emperor of the French. Document signed ('Nap'), Elysée Palace, 3 April 1813, a licence for a ship chartered by the Bordeaux merchant D.A. Rodrigues to undertake a voyage to England, its outbound cargo to comprise silk cloth of French manufacture, and French wines and spirits, its return cargo to comprise dried skins, fish oils, raw copper, whalebone, potash, roucou, and medicines, to be of no greater value than the exported cargo, one page, folio (490 x 350mm), on a printed form, name of ship and captain not completed, indented at left margin, blind-stamped seal, four other officials' signatures (small tear to fold).
