專家說明

The present painting relates to a group of five or six cutout crucifixes, formerly attributed to Bartolomeo di Fruosino, which are now given to the Master of the Squarcialupi Codex, a follower of Lorenzo Monaco who worked at Santa Maria dei Angeli, Florence, in the early 1410s. For more on this artist, see Luciano Bellosi, 'Due note in margine a Lorenzo Monaco miniatore: il "Maestro del Codice Squarcialupi" e il poco probabile Matteo Torelli,' in Studi di storia dell'arte in memoria di Mario Rotili, Naples, 1984, I, pp. 307-14.

We are grateful to Everett Fahy for providing the attribution, upon first-hand inspection.
