LATE 18TH CENTURY
Circular blonde tortoiseshell box, the independent cover and base with gold piqué-point inlay, the cover with pellet-bordered gold mounts, all other mounts reeded; together with, a circular dark composition box, the independent cover and base stamped with concentric reeding and pellets, the cover border inlaid with gold piqé-point; together with, a circular tortoiseshell-lined blue composition box, the independent cover glazed, laurel and berry chased two-colour gold mounts; together with, a circular ivory box, the glazed cover inset with scrolling seed pearls and blue glass navette

The piqué box belonged to Lady Sarah Spencer (1838-1919) at 28 St. James's Place, and by descent to Albert Edward John, 7th Earl Spencer, by whom removed to Althorp, Northamptonshire, in 1923.
