專家說明

This design in the Louis XVI 'antique' fashion, for an ornamental fire-dog (chenet) celebrates lyric poetry and the harvest season of Autumn, and can be attributed to the sculptor bronze-founder Jean-Louis Prieur, author of Principes de dessin, 1783, and self-styled 'sculpteur, cizeleur et doreur du Roy'. A related design, with harvesting youth celebrating the Feast of Bacchus, is preserved in the Odiot album, discussed by H. Ottomeyer P. Pröschel et. al., Vergoldete Bronzen, Munich, 1986, vol. 1, p. 199, fig. 33.14.7.
