With Patek Philippe Certificate of Origin dated September 2000, additional case back, setting pin, fitted presentation box and outer packaging.
This exceptionally rare example of a reference 3970 by Patek Philippe is one of the rarest white gold version seen on the market in recent years. In fact, further to our research, no other example in white gold born with a black dial has ever appeared at auction until today, reaffirming its true rarity. The elegant yet stunning looks of this ultra rare piece are confirmed by the Certificate of Origin, a must for the discerning collector. The present "trophy watch" is fresh to the market and offered here in "like new" condition. This fantastic and very appealing watch, with superb pedigree as the successor of the mythical reference 2499, blessed with the much sought-after black dial, is the "missing link" to any collection of rare perpetual calendar chronographs.
Reference 3970 was in production from 1986 until 2004 when it was replaced by reference 5970. The model is illustrated in Patek Philippe Wristwatches by Martin Huber & Alan Banbery, second edition, p. 305.
