Specialist note

The Ferrari F50
Created to celebrate Ferrari’s 50th anniversary in 1997, the F50 was the closest thing to a road-going Formula 1 car the company had ever built. In the tradition of the purist approach to high performance, the F50 was built without power steering, power assisted braking and ABS, but in contrast made extensive use of highly sophisticated composite materials, F1-style construction technology and aerodynamics.

Girard-Perregaux for Ferrari
Girard-Perregaux made watches in collaboration with Ferrari between 1993 and 2004. Ferrari had been looking for a watch brand to become a partner who were worthy of the Ferrari legend in both design and technology. Girard-Perregaux were chosen due to the personal connection of the owner of GP and the then President of Ferrari. The partnership became ‘Girard-Perregaux for Ferrari’ and began manufacturing small highly exclusive limited editions, in particular, to celebrate F1 championships and the release of new Ferrari models. These watches gained a cult following among collectors and Ferrari fans, reflecting the prestige and exclusivity of Ferrari whilst at the same time the buyer had the reassurance of owning a watch made by the great watch house of Girard-Perregaux.
