Specialist note

In 1990, Breguet launched the 'Marine' line with the intent of creating a 'sports-chic' timepiece. The Marine watches highly resembled their 'Classique' watches but with water-resistant cases that felt more substantial and robust. However, they were still still crafted from precious metal.

The Marine line was revitalized in 2005, such as the production year of the present watch. These new watches were now available in stainless steel along with precious metals, some fitted with rubber straps and luminous hands, and significantly grew in size. The present Marine reference 5817 features a contemporary steel 40mm case with an attractive silvered guilloché dial. The watch is fitted on a sporty rubber strap and has a sapphire caseback to view the in-house caliber 517GG with hand-finished Côtes de Genève, anglage beveling, a solid gold guilloché cut rotor, and mirror polished screw heads finished to the highest degree.
