First complete edition in Dutch of Martin Frobenius Ledermüller's collected works, with more plates than the earlier German and French editions, and is the first book on microscopes published with coloured plates. The main part comprises translations of Mikroskopische Gemuths- und Augenergotzung enlarged with Nachlese..., Abgenothigte verteidigung..., Versuch bei angehender Fruhlingszeit die Vergrosserungs-Werkzeuge zum nutzlichen und angenehmen Zeitvertreib anzuwenden and Letzte Beobachtungen seiner mikroskopischen Ergotzungen ... nebst der Beschreibung und Abbilduing einen neuen un vollstandigen Universal-Mikroskops. The fine illustrations depict various natural history specimens as viewed through a microscope, as well as illustrations of the various types of microscopes and preparation instruments.
