Levant morocco by Rivière, the glazed miniature surrounded by a gilt rule and scrolling gilt grapevine ornaments, gilt-lettered above and below the miniature, lower cover with grapevine corner ornaments, spine in six compartments, gilt-lettered in two and with grapevine ornaments in the rest, board edges and turn-ins gilt, green moiré silk endleaves, top edge gilt, others uncut, stamp-signed by the binder on upper turn-in and lower doublure and by the artist on upper doublure. Fleece-lined cloth slipcase. Provenance: Estelle Doheny, American philanthropist, 1875-1958 (morocco bookplate, her sale, Christie’s New York, 18 October 1988, lot 1561).
