Specialist note

At a first glimpse the present timepiece appears to be a regular chronograph wristwatch with two pushers for starting/stopping/ resetting the chronograph hand. However, in the 1930s Eberhard & Co. introduced their calibre 1600 or EB 1600, a slightly modified Valjoux 65 movement, with a rare column-wheel integrated single button chronograph mechanism. The upper push-button starts, stops, and resets the chronograph hand while the lower “pusher” is in fact a slide. When moved towards the crown it allows the chronograph hand to be stopped/started without resetting it while at the same time locking the chronograph button.

The chronograph offered here for sale furthermore impresses with its, for the period, large 39 mm. diameter, the charismatic black multiscale dial and its extremely well-preserved overall condition – especially for an over 80 years old watch.
