Note du spécialiste

For landscape drawings by Rosa executed in a similarly loose and mixed technique, see M. Mahoney, The Drawings of Salvator Rosa, New York and London, 1977, I, 55.1, 55.11, 76.4 and 76.7, ill. The latter drawing shows freely drawn figures which are particularly close to those in the present sheet.
