Specialist note

Part of the most impressive iterations of the Nautilus, the present wristwatch is offered in excellent overall condition and has been carefully cherished throughout the years by its owner, an important private collector. It is part of the highly exclusive jewellery-set examples of the iconic Nautilus.

Made in very scarce numbers, the ref. 5724R-001 distinguishes itself from other Nautilus models through a very elegant diamond-setting comprising of 50 baguette-cut diamonds weighing a total of 8.31 carats. Adding to its importance, the watch is accompanied by an impressive set of cufflinks, key chain and money clip, all matching perfectly with the present timepiece.

The present Nautilus is amongst the rarest sightings at auction and features a power reserve, date as well as moon phases complication making it amongst the most complicated jewellery-set examples of the model ever manufactured. The movement is stamped with the Geneva seal, widely considered as the highest standard in watchmaking and changed by Patek Philippe from 2009 for their own Patek Philippe Seal.

An astonishing timepiece, the Nautilus collection was introduced in 1976 when Patek Philippe was looking for a strong design of inimitable personality. An inspiration for such a timepiece soon emerged. The universal shape of a porthole found on virtually all marine vessels. Since then, the Nautilus has established itself as a classic elegant sports watch and has captivated collectors throughout the world.
