Circle of Francisco de Zurbarán (Fuente de Cantos, Badajoz 1598-1664 Madrid)

The two girls depicted in this portrait were traditionally held to be the daughters of Juan de las Roelas, one of the foremost Spanish painters of the early 17th century. He is considered to have introduced the spirit of the early Baroque into painting in Seville and his works were highly sought-after in his own time.
