Omega. A very fine and rare stainless steel chronometer wristwatch with two-tone silvered dial and red gilt movement

The present watch is both stunningly attractive and technically superior. The two-tone silvered dial has applied dart indexes, numerals and the Omega symbol all in white metal which combined with the classic steel case lend the watch an air of quality and understated sophistication. Furthermore, it is a high-precision chronometer which in the 1940s meant a parameter of between 0 to +15 seconds variation in daily rate. In fact Omega’s chronometers have only ever been delivered with a “mention for especially good results” after testing in five positions and at different temperatures. The caliber 30 T2 RG deluxe 30 mm chronometer movement found in the present watch was Omega’s first red gilt movement. Introduced in 1943, it was used in several of the company's most iconic time-only chronometer wristwatches.
