Excellent year, with great body and aroma. Declared by almost all the large houses. An exceptionally cold winter was followed by very mild summer. Some rain in September, but the harvest was completed in good weather conditions near the end of the month. Reduced production.
The Ramos Pinto vintage 1924 was made from Quinta do Bom Retiro grapes and bottled after three years in cask.
Tasting note: This port has a very red core with slight tawny highlights towards the edge. Extremely rich aroma of spices, roasted hazelnuts and complex balsamic scents. Powerful, yet fully integrated in the mouth with fresh balsamic hints on the backdrop of honey, coffee and cigar box flavours. Medium-long finish and well-structured. September 2017.
