Note du spécialiste

This highly representative still life shows flowers from the artist’s garden at Charleston placed against a striking floral printed textile which was used in the house for cushion covers and as a studio ‘prop’. The blurring of natural and artificial elements in a quite high key of colour contrasting with the black pot and table top, is typical of many of Bell’s later still lifes.

We are very grateful to Richard Shone for his assistance in preparing this catalogue entry.
