Presented to Audrey Hepburn by Robert Wagner after filming the 1987 ABC TV film Love Among Thieves. In her second and last film for television, shot nearly thirty years after her first, Hepburn played a concert pianist forced to steal some priceless Fabergé eggs from a San Francisco museum as ransom for her kidnapped fiancé in Latin America, meeting Wagner's roguish Mike on the journey.
Hepburn and Wagner were old friends, often seeing each other when at their neighbouring chalets in Gstaad. Audrey admired him as an actor, never missing an episode of his hit television series Hart to Hart. When offered the chance to work with Wagner, she didn't think twice, telling reporters I wasn't really all that keen to work... But I was tempted and said I would like to do something if it was going to be fun, something cheerful. Karen [Mack] came up with [Love Among Thieves] and when she threw in R.J. Wagner, that did it. Wagner likewise signed up immediately on hearing that Audrey wanted to appear with him, later telling the Los Angeles Daily News Working with Audrey was one of the highlights of my career.
