Specialist note
The present coin watch is an attractive example of a twenty dollar coin watch produced in the late 1930s. The edge of the coin is engraved E Pluribus Unum, Latin for "Out of many, one," a motto on the Seal of the United States. Early coin watches from Patek Philippe are exceptionally rare and typically feature exceptionally attractive gold dials and Arabic numerals with the Patek Philippe & Co. long signature. This example is similar to the example made for Henry Graves, Jr. in the previous decade and can be also considered a trophy for the the modern day collector.
