Rolex. A very rare, attractive and important 18K gold automatic triple calendar wristwatch with moon phases and star dial

Completely fresh to the market and consigned by the descendents of the original owner, this extremely rare and early reference 6062 "stelline” is an excellent and premium example of what many Rolex collectors and scholars consider the most prestigious model ever made. Dating from 1950, the present watch with serial number 690’034 is one of the earliest examples to be offered at auction and according to research, excluding examples where the serial number is unknown, only two other star dial 6062’s are known publically with serial numbers below 700’000, no. 690’028 and no. 690’047. The majority of recorded examples have serial numbers in the upper 700’000s up to the late 900’000s. The reference 6062 was in production for only three years at the beginning of the 1950s and is one of only two models ever to have a full triple calendar and moon phase indication. Together with the non-Oyster reference 8171, the 6062 combines the most desirable features together in one superb classic watch. Reference 6062 was available in yellow gold, pink gold and stainless steel, it is nicknamed “stelline” by collectors due to the eight five-pointed star hour markers.
