Fresh to the market, the present watch is an outstanding example of the revered reference fifty-sixteen.

Before the launch of reference 5002 Sky and Moon Tourbillon, reference 5016 was the most complicated wristwatch available at Patek Philippe. Its dial layout and case design stylistically place it into the "old school" Patek Philippe production, and it is one of the very last examples of this iconic group, which includes masterpieces such as reference 2499 and 2497. Indeed, the case design of reference 5016 is a direct descendant of the case design of reference 2499, characterized by the unmistakable sculpted lugs.

This legendary watch is displaying a charismatic black dial on a pink gold case and offers stunning looks to the beholder. It is for the first time offered here at Christie's. The dial design is certainly one of the most attractive and convincing combinations seen on this rare reference by Patek Philippe. The "powerful" looking black dial with the much sought after and attractive pink gold Breguet numerals will not go unnoticed amongst any collector.

This example is one of the most attractive reference 5016 models to be offered at auction in recent years.
