Specialist note

The present "Stella", boasting a red lacquered dial and accompanied by a matching crocodile strap, is a prominent example of how modern and enjoyable such timepieces are even after nearly 40 years from their production.

For a short period of time in the 1970's, the Rolex Day-Date reference 1803 was available with colored dials that had the appearance of enamel. These coloured dial variants are referred to by collectors as "Stella" dials and are quite rare and collectible.
