Rolex. An early and very rare chronograph wristwatch with brushed bezel and bracelet, made for the American market

A number of features render this 6239 an extremely appealing and collectible example. It is obviously a very early specimen, as suggested by its serial number barely above 1'000'000. It was produced for the American market, as indicated by the ROW stamp on the movement, and incredibly it arrives to us with its original jubilee bracelet, one of the very rare examples of "made in USA" Rolex bracelet, as engraved on the deployant clasp. The icing on the cake, however, is its bezel. An intriguing example of Rolex experimentalism, this mark II bezel (sporting calibration to 300 units, and a dot for the 275 mark - absolutely correct for the period) presents a brushed satin finish instead of the common mirror polishing. These very rare bezels are highly sought after by knowledgeable collectors. They are an example of the wide array of solutions that Rolex experimented, also on production pieces, at the dawn of the Daytona legend.
