William Gouw Ferguson (Scotland c. 1633-after 1695)

We are grateful to Fred Meijer of the RKD, The Hague, for confirming the attribution, on the basis of photographs. A characteristic work of the early output of the artist, he notes that it can be dated to the 1660s, as it shows the strong influence of Melchior d'Hondecoeter's early still-lives of game.
