CIRCA 1725-28, BLUE CROSSED SWORDS MARK
Each side painted with a three-quarter length portrait of a gallant and companion standing amongst trees, within gilt shaped oval cartouches enclosing scroll-edged Böttger-lustre panels and issuing brown and iron-red scrolls, the handles with gilt husk and dot ornament

With Winifred Williams, London and Eastbourne, from whom it was acquired on 12 December 1974.

Specialist note

A beaker and saucer painted in a similar hand with European figures within cartouches, and attributed to J. G. Höroldt, is in the Wark Collection, see Ulrich Pietsch, Early Meissen Porcelain The Wark Collection, London, 2011, p. 134, no. 105.
