Specialist note
Sir John was the second son of Sir Thomas Osborne, 5th Bt. (d.1715), who was knighted in 1679 and succeeded to the baronetcy on the death of a cousin in 1713. He was a member of the Irish Parliament for Lismore in 1719-27 and Co. Waterford in 1727-43 and consolidated his family's interests in that county.
