Daishan Wang (b. 1981)

What makes Wang Daishan's pieces so captivating is his choreographed arrangement of light and shadows. Wang's apprenticeship with Shi Chong had a positive influence on his oil painting perspectives, and his discerning eye for details. In the process, Wang began to establish his signature style. The quiet corner of the beautiful garden depicted here, is again a nod to Wang's sophisticated taste.

His brushstrokes obscure the details of leaves and twigs in the foreground and the background, while the focus is locked in on the dark recess of the flowering shrubs. The pink blossoms, cropped by the edge of the canvas, and the swinging plants in the wind, are a celebration of the artist's successful reenactment of the daily reality; and they lend a cinematographic effect to the piece. The mysterious red heels at the foot of the composition, on the other hand, tease the viewer's imagination. The piece is rather comforting to the soul that it seems to serenade to the viewers, tenderly.
