Each with a pieced basket above a leaf-tip and guilloche frieze, supported by three putti above a circular imbricated flower-head plinth, on a spreading leaf-tip foot
18 ¼ in. (46.5 cm.) high; 8 ½ in. (21.5 cm.) diameter

The Empire centrepiece from the collection of King Louis Philippe (1773-1850) of France; and thence by descent.

Specialist note

This group is identical to a design from the workshop of the sculptor Jean-Jacques Feuchère (1807-1852) currently in the Bibliothèque Nationale, Paris, and illustrated in H. Ottomeyer and P. Pröschel, Vergoldete Bronzen, Munich 1989, vol. 2, p. 384, no. 5.16.5.
